Run and Explore Bogotá with us!

What you will see:  Maybe you’ll see a llama dressed in its Sunday best or   a man juggling bowling pins.  You could see amazing graffiti, street vendors selling juices, food, and wares, some amazing buildings, parks, and hopefully you’ll get a taste of the “real Bogotá.”

Types/Distances/Paces of Tours:  Currently we are offering private, custom tours based on the distance you would like to run and the sights you want to see.  Groups of up to six people welcome.  Our tours are created with all runners in mind, so no matter your pace, the tour will be right for you.  Generally, we like tours to be 4 – 10 miles in length, but we can definitely make them longer or shorter, based on your schedule and your desires.

How much:  FREE.  That’s right, currently, we offer the tour for free and gladly accept donations after the tour, based what you thought the tour was worth.

What language will be spoken:  All tours are led in English at this time.  In the future we may add tours in German and Spanish.

Where: In most cases, your tour guide will meet you outside your hotel/hostel/AirBnB and the tour will kick-off from there.  At your request or to improve the tour, we may meet in a pre-determined locale in La Candelaria, Zona G or Zona T.

When:  We recommend 5:30 AM – 7:30 AM start to the tour to avoid as much of the traffic as possible. With that in mind, we work with you to schedule a tour based on your needs.

What we recommend you bring with you:  Cash (for food, souvenirs and to tip), ID (we recommend a photocopy of your passport, either laminated or in a ziplock bag), sunglasses, sunscreen, lip balm with SPF, comfy running shoes, long sleeve top (for further sun protection – Bogotá sits at around 8,600 ft above sea level and is relatively close to the equator, so the sun is very strong here – even when cloudy), cap/hat.  Don’t bring anything that could be ruined if it rains unless you have waterproof protection for it (this is especially true in the afternoons here).

Considerations:  Unless you are traveling from a place that is at a high-altitude and very accustomed to training at 8,000+ feet above sea level, we recommend arriving to the run tour hydrated and willing to go slower than your usual pace.  Even in the city, you are running at 8,600 ft above sea level.  That’s higher than Albuquerque, higher than Denver, higher than Salt Lake City…you get it – it’s high.  If you begin to feel light headed or dizzy or have numbness in your extremities, please let your tour guide know immediately.

What you get:

  • Your run for the day
  • A chance to see many of the major sights of Bogotá
  • A bottle of water (tour guide carries for you)
  • Opportunities to purchase food, coffee, and, dependent on the tour, souvenirs
  • Memories that will last a lifetime
  • Bragging rights – you just ran 4 – 10+ miles at 8,600 feet above sea level.  You are kind of a big deal.
